Journal Scope
The scope of the Journal will be broad, covering all aspects of Islam and society including history, politics, economics, finance, sociology, literature, the environment, science, Islamic law and other components of Islam.
Topics may cover, but will not be limited to, the following areas:
- Islam and societal issues
- Islamic civilisation and culture
- Qur’anic and Hadith studies
- Various sub-components of Islam including law, economics, finance, history, politics, philosophy, science, literature, the environment, and others.
- Muslims in Mauritius, the Indian Ocean, Africa and the wider Muslim world
- Muslim personalities and their contributions
- Inter-faith relations, Inter-cultural understanding/dialogue
- Minority rights of Muslims
- Contemporary development in the Muslim world
Objectives of the Journal
The journal aims to achieve the following key objectives:
- Promote academic research and writing on Islamic studies, including its various sub-components, in Mauritius, the Indian Ocean and the African continent.
- Stimulate interfaith dialogue and peaceful co-existence in Muslim minority countries such as Mauritius.
- Encourage debate and discussion on various topical issues in Islam as well as contemporary development in the Muslim world.
