ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

to mark the 58^th year of Independence of the Republic of Mauritius

Open to Every Mauritian Student

Aged 16 to 20 Years Old

Essay Theme:

‘Human beings are guardians, not owners, of the world they inhabit’. Discuss this statement from an Islamic perspective.’

First Prize: Rs 15,000

Second Prize: Rs 10,000

Third Prize: Rs 5,000

Submission Guidelines:

Essays should be written in English.
Essays’ length should be of 1000-1200 words.
All submissions must be in MS-Word (.docx) format.
All submissions must include the full name, address, email, contact number and photo ID of the author.
Participants should provide a written declaration to testify that their work is original.
Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies may only be used to improve the readability and language of the work and not to write the essay. The maximum allowable limit in the use of AI is 20 per cent.
By entering the competition, the participant agrees to give the right to the Organisers to publish his/her essay.
The Organisers are not compelled to distribute any prizes if they feel that the submissions received did not meet the standards required.
The decision of the Organisers will be final.
